Our Darjeeling is a 2nd flush, from the Margaret's Hope Estate. The estate was formerly known as Bara Ringtong, but was renamed after Lady Margaret, the daughter of the garden manager, who died on her way back to the garden from England.

Lot Notes. Harvested in 2024.  Tea is classed as a black.

Tea Facts.  Tea is grown in the the Northern Valley of Kurseong, close to the Longview Highlands. The estate's elevation ranges from 3,120 to 6,000 ft.  The estate is crossed by two rivers, has views of the Himalayas, and is home to a variety of orchids and lichens.

Taste Profile. Leaves open to flowery notes. Notes of honey, currant, and grapes. Very long finish.

Brewing suggestions. Tea does well with water just short of boiling. Use 3 grams in water 195-205 F steeped for 2.5 - 3 minutes to yield a round and full flavor.

BLACK TEA

3 grams/1 teaspoon per 6 ounces of water

195° - 205° F

2 Minutes

Black tea is a leaf that has been fully oxidized. This rigorous oxidization produces a tea of hearty rich flavors while reducing its astringency and bringing out a natural sweetness.

Flavors will range from bright, brisk, peppery, clean, and smoky to aromatic, bold, malty, nutty, spicy, and sweet. Blacks are known for long, delicately aromatic, and comforting aftertastes. Note, they are often enjoyed with milk or sweetener.

This Goomtee Estate (FTGFOP1) lot is lively, mouth-filling and will linger.

A well-crafted tension exists between the leaf astringency and its flowery flavors.
